Epi Pens

The only medication allowed to be with the student is an EpiPen.

Prescribed medication

All other medication must be handed into reception in a pharmacy prepared webster pack with your child’s name required dosage and prescribing health practitioner for administration by the reception staff. Parents are required to fill in a Consent to Administer Medication form and send it to school along with the correctly packaged medication.

Over the counter medication

Over the counter medication such as Panadol, for students, is only permitted in a box labelled by the pharmacist with a prescribing doctor’s name with a form filled in by parents. The Panadol must then be left at the school office.

Asthma

If your child has asthma and requires assistance to administer their medication, it is important that you provide the school with your child’s emergency medication and their Asthma Action Plan. An Asthma Action Plan, completed by a doctor, will provide specific instructions to the school to administer your child’s medication.
We recognise that some students are capable of administering their asthma medication without adult assistance.

Self-Administration of medication

At Scenic Shores State School, it is an expectation that all medications are stored securely in Administration. If you are confident that you child can competently and safely self-administer their asthma medication, let our staff know. Your child will report to Administration when required to self-administer their asthma medication and will be recorded by our staff.
